In addition to the workshops run directly by Comfy Frog, our popular figure workshops are also being offered through Vitreous Art (Northants), Buckinghom Summer School (Bucks) & Cool Contour (Oxon), giving a greater choice of locations, subject matter & dates. Comfy Frog were recently asked to be involved in a World War 1 Art Project with the Yr2 - Yr6 pupils at our local school. Just before October half term we made Poppy Brooches similar to the one pictured using Red & Black Powertex fabric hardener, recycled T-shirts & egg boxes. Once dry, all th children took home their own poppy brooch to wear with pride during the Rememberance events in this special year.
Comfy Frog Sculptures & Vases were on display throughout the South Northamptonshire Art Trail this year. The trail incorporated a number of locations in the south of the county including Towcester, Silverstone & Brackley. Roy Holding kindly donated his studio space in Towcester Town Hall to Jenny Le Bique (Painter), Deborah Thompson (Painter) & Liz Dixon of Comfy Frog for the duration of the Art Trail. Several Comfy Frog vases found new homes, our latest Roman Sculpture, Durand, is now residing in La Strada Restaurant, Towcester & there was some genuine interest in our workshop programme. All in all, a very successful exhibition.
On Sunday 7th September 2014 the South Northamptonshire Arts Group hosted a 1 day Arts Festival at Bells Plantation, Towcester. The sun shone, the jazz band played & Liz from Comfy Frog demonstrated textile sculpture to interested onlookers. Over 30 artists to part to raise awareness of the forthcoming South Northamptonshire Art Trail starting Saturday 13th September.
There was much excitement throughout the Powertex distribution network at news of a new product called Easy 3D Flex coming to the UK. Liz Dixon from Comfy Frog was one of the first to try the product & it opens up lots of new possibilities in both sculpture & artwork effects. Mix Easy 3D Flex with Powertex fabric hardener to form an air drying clay which cracks as it dries - fantastic for adding texture & marbling effects to you art. Available now from our online store.
We are pleased to announce that Liz Dixon of Comfy Frog has now attained Level 3 Powertex Trainer status. This adds an arsenal of new tips & techniques that can be imparted during the Comfy Frog workshops, including Painting with Powertex, adding crackle effects, & additional colouring techniques using Powertex pigments
On 9th/10th August 2014 Comfy Frog helped out the Powertex UK team at the Great British Craft Festival, held at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire. The Powertex UK stand really stood out, with a 6ft Powertex sculpture to draw the crowds & free Make 'n' Takes for alucky 6 people per hour throughout the day. Booking was essential as we were oversubscribed on both days! The 10,000 visitors to the show were greeted with another large Powertex sculpture & banners in the entrance foyer after a cheeky request for more display space from Garry Evans of Powertex UK. Well if you don't ask, you don't get I suppose...
Chris Smith of Oxford Media Factory set up his camera in the garden of Comfy Frog HQ on 17th September 2014 & shot a promotional video for us. Talking to camera is very different from talking person to person, but Chris was very patient throughout the process. We look forward to seeing the finished, edited version soon.
